A Maturity Model of Evaluating Requirements Specification Techniques. (August 2003) Yonghee Shin, B.S., Sookmyung Women’s University Chair of Advisory Committee: Dr. Hoh In It is important to evaluate and understand the state-of-art technologies to position our research and invest our energy and resources in more effective ways. Unfortunately, no systematic approach has been introduced to evaluate the maturity of technologies except a few models such as Redwine/Riddle’s model (Redwine and Riddle, 1985), which does not contain a significant concept, “goals” of technologies. A new goal-oriented, technology maturity evaluation model has been proposed in this present study. The model aids to measure how a technology meets the goal of the technology along with a well-defined procedure. The model has applied to evaluate the maturity of the requirements specification technology as a case study. The results showed that this approach promoted effectiveness of measuring the technology maturity and understanding the state-of-art technology.

An automatic test case generator for evaluating implementation of access control policies

One of the main requirements for providing software security is the enforcement of access control policies which aim to protect resources of the system against unauthorized accesses. Any error in the implementation of such policies may lead to undesirable outcomes. For testing the implementation of access control policies, it is preferred to use automated methods which are faster and more relia...

A model for specification, composition and verification of access control policies and its application to web services

Despite significant advances in the access control domain, requirements of new computational environments like web services still raise new challenges. Lack of appropriate method for specification of access control policies (ACPs), composition, verification and analysis of them have all made the access control in the composition of web services a complicated problem. In this paper, a new indepe...

The Reliability of Measuring Organizational Maturity

One of the recently developed classes of decision making tools for software engineering management is the organizational maturity assessment. The scores from such assessments are being applied in focusing and tracking self-improvement efforts, and as part of the contract award decision making process. However, until now, the important issue of the reliability of assessments has rarely been addr...

An EPQ Model for Product Life Cycle (Maturity Stage) with Deteriorating Items and Shortages

A product life cycle is the life span of a product in which the period begins with the initial product specification and ends with the withdrawal from the market of both the product and its support. A product life cycle can be divided into several stages characterized by the revenue generated by the product. This study investigates inventory control policies in a manufacturing system for a si...

The Triptych Process Model 1 Process Assessment and Improvement Dines

The triptych approach to software engineering proceeds on the basis of carefully monitored and controlled possibly iterated progression through domain engineering and requirements engineering to software design. In this paper we will outline these three phases, show the many stages of development within each and also indicate the many steps within each stage. We will ever so briefly touch upon ...
